Lighting renovations for the Women Veterans Monument at the Veterans Memorial Park are complete, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.
The lighting enhancements highlight six sculptures which represent women servicemembers who honored their country in each of the major conflicts from World War I through Desert Storm in 1991.
Up-lights shine on each of the sculptures, showcasing the traditional uniforms for women in each of the branches of the U.S. military, the city said.
The lighting also highlights the monument plaque which recognizes the dedication of the United Military Women of the Southwest nonprofit (umwsw.weebly.com), which initiated the project to create the women’s monument, worked with the architect to complete the final design and garnered support and financial commitments to build it.
Veterans Memorial Park, 1251 N. Roadrunner Parkway, is open dawn to dusk every day.
