Women’s golf day celebrates its 10th year

Posted

This email I received in early April announcing Women’s Golf Day for 2025, with dateline West Palm Beach, Florida and London, England: Women’ Golf Day (WGD) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025, marking a decade of connecting, inspiring, and empowering women and girls through golf. This milestone is not just a celebration – it’s a call to action, brands, and industry leaders to “Help Us to Help You” by increasing participation and expanding opportunities for women in golf year-round.

I fully support the Women’s Golf Day movement, and this year is a pivotal moment for the WGD community. WGD is a platform that celebrates girls and women golfing and learning skills that last a lifetime. The goal is to break barriers, change perceptions and create more opportunities for women in golf, ensuring that golf becomes a game where everyone feels welcome. While WGD events take place around the globe between May 27 and June 3, 2025, its mission extends beyond a single event. WGD is a gateway for women into the sport and provides a platform for locations and PGA Professionals to share their ongoing initiatives, education programs and events through social channels, newsletter and the WGD website www.womensgolfday.com. The website lists events and locations around the country for participation and involvement.

Women’s Golf Day started in 2016 as a grassroots movement. The post-Covid-19 efforts moved to elevate and engage partners to create a sustainable business model to ensure this is a lasting program. WGD events have taken place at more than 1,350 locations in over 85 countries since its inception. Since its beginning WGD has introduced thousands of new golfers to the sport and is the fastest-growing female golf development initiative in the world. Participating facilities that are registered on the website can be found by simply using the location finder at https://womensgolfday.com/locations/.

Official partners of Women’s Golf Day are the PGA of America, The R&A, USGA, Japan Golf Association and Golfbreaks. WGD is also proudly supported by the Annika Foundation, the European Tour, the PGA Tour, The First Tee, The Golf Channel, GolfNow, Sky Sports, Troon Golf, The World Golf Foundation and many more.

“Women’s Golf Day has proven that one day and collectively working together can create a lasting impact,” says Elisa Gaudet, founder of Women’s Golf Day. “We are excited to celebrate this milestone and invite more golf facilities, federations and golf organizations brands and participants to be a part of a movement that continues to change lives around the world.”

Event attendance reached an all-time high in 2024 with events attracting hundreds of women, most notably at Dobson Ranch in Arizona where 320 women took over the golf range. Among the awards WGD has received is the International Network of Golf Industry Honors Award for Business Achievement in 2023.

In our area women golfers have the opportunity to participate in competition organized by the Border Ladies Golf Association. There are several local golf clubs that are participating members of BLGA: There will be a detailed article in this column soon about the BLGA.
