WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE

WSMR commander promoted to brigadier general

Posted

On May 1, Col. David C. Trybula was officially pinned with the flag-officer rank of brigadier general.

Trybula is the 38th commander of White Sands Missile Range. According to a WSMR press release, the ceremony was conducted by Maj. Gen. Joel Tyler, commanding general of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command via video teleconference.

Prior to taking command at White Sands, Trybula served as the deputy chief of staff for Army Futures Command Headquarters in Austin, Texas.

“What a humbling experience,” Trybula said following the ceremony. “This is truly the result of investments by soldiers, civilians and family members throughout my career. My deepest gratitude goes out to each and every person who has been a part of my development. Today is your day, as well! I am thrilled at the opportunity to continue to contribute and serve our nation.”

Trybula came aboard at WSMR on July 17, 2019, when he took over from outgoing commander Brigadier General Gregory J. Brady. Brady introduced Trybula on that day as “the right leader at the right time.”

“The Trybulas are present for duty and humbled to be counted as part of the Army Test and Evaluation Command Team and stand proud with all the outstanding soldiers, sailors, airmen, civilians and family members of the White Sands Missile Range community,” Trybula said as he took command last July. “Truth in testing. Army strong.”

Upon graduation from the U.S. Military Academy in 1989, Trybula was commissioned as an armor officer and served his company-grade time in Armor and Cavalry units before receiving his functional designation as an Operations Research Systems Analyst. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy and a master’s degree and doctorate in philosophy in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
