The Teaching Academy is seeking applications for participation in the 2016-2017 Advancing Leaders Program cohort. The Advancing Leaders Program is a nine-month leadership program offered every other year to faculty members and academic administrators wishing to widen their networks and hone their leadership skills. Those who participate must commit to: 1) a two-day off-site retreat Aug. 4 and 5 to identify leadership strengths and weaknesses, to establish leadership goals and to begin leadership skill building; 2) work with a mentor from NMSU who will offer advice and assistance related to identifying and pursing individual leadership goals; 3) attend monthly leadership workshops and working sessions devoted to leadership skill development on the first Friday of the month September through May; and 4) participate in a recognition event May 5 in which each cohort member will have the opportunity to reflect on what they have learned in the ALP program.
If interested, please submit the following materials to Shawn Werner, associate director for leadership and mentoring, MSC 3TA: one copy of your CV, a twopage letter clearly stating why you want to participate in the Advancing Leaders Program, a letter from your department head (faculty) or dean (department heads) indicating that you will be permitted the time to participate in this program, and a list of three colleague or supervisor references with their contact information.
The deadline for applications is March 4. Notification of acceptance is April 15. For more information about the Advancing Leaders Program for faculty, please contact Shawn Werner at 646-2583 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note that there is also a leadership program for staff offered through the NMSU Center for Learning & Professional Development. If interested in the staff leadership program, please contact Dave Brockmeyer at 646-2170.
