Bulletin report

Kathy Baker is Agave Artist Gallery’s artist of the month for January.

Baker will conduct two free workshops in January.  The first workshop, 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, will focus on the basics of solar dyeing of fiber, including yarn and basket materials. The second workshop, 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, will include a demonstration on spinning art yarn using a diversity of fibers and sustainable resources. Both workshops require pre-registration at www.agaveartists.com or 575-339-9870, as space is limited.

A Las Cruces clay and fiber artist, Baker creates art with yarn, gourds, ceramics, weaving and basketry, sometimes in one project.

Baker is a member of the Las Cruces Potters’ Guild and the Fiber Arts Network.

Among other exhibitions, Baker was a participating artist in the Celebration of Clay (Santa Fe 2019), From the Ground Up (Las Cruces (2019), The Albuquerque Fiber Fest (Virtual 2020) and Fire and Fiber (Las Cruces 2020).

Agave Artist Gallery, 2250 Calle de San Albino, is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
