Aggies host Lobos in hoops rematch

Aggie men: The University of New Mexico Lobos come to Las Cruces for the return match of the Rio Grande Rivalry, with tipoff at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, in the Pan American Center.

The Aggies are seeking a better outcome than the Dec. 2 game in Albuquerque, when NM State came up on the short end of a 106-62 score.

NM State is 5-6 after its 76-71 victory against Northern New Mexico Dec. 12 in the Pan Am. Kaosi Ezeagu led the Aggies with 14 points, and Jordan Rawls and Brandon Suggs both scored 10 points off the bench. The Aggies are now 5-6 on the season.

After Friday’s Lobo game, the Aggies will be on the road at Stephen F. Austin Dec. 19 and the University of Tulsa Dec. 22 before their next home game, 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, against California Baptist.

The NM State men will play their first Conference-USA game 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at home against UTEP.

Aggie women: The NM State women host Utah Valley in a Saturday afternoon game, 1 p.m. Dec. 16 in the Pan Am Center.

The Aggies are 5-4 after winning 89-54 in a home game against Western New Mexico Dec. 12. They were paced by Molly Kaiser, who led all scorers with 22 points.

NM State had 10 players in the scoring column and three with double figures.

NM State will play in the Austin Peay Christmas tournament Dec. 20-21 in Clarksville, Tennessee.  They won’t be back home until their Conference USA home opener Jan. 11. Sandwiched in between will be road games at UT-Arlington Dec. 30 and a conference game at UTEP 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6.
