The Las Cruces Museum of Art (MOA), 491 N. Main St., will host “Artistas de la Fronterizas – Borderland Contemporary Artists,” beginning Friday, Oct. 6.

The exhibit will include 16 contemporary artists from Las Cruces, El Paso and Ciudad Juárez who
“come together in this colorful and expressive exhibit to showcase their work as prominent borderland artists,” the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.

An opening reception will be  5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at MOA, with artists in attendance to discuss their work and respective experiences.

The exhibit continues through Saturday, Dec. 16.

Participating artists were selected from a 2021 MOA call for artists focusing on artists with Hispanic and Latino origins.

Artists will showcase their newest work in Artistas de la Fronterizas “using a variety of unique, symbolic and meaningful pieces that reflect their work as regionally distinct artists and their experiences as part of a minoritized community that has shaped their perspective as artists,” the news release said. Works include 2D pieces using watercolor, monotype, oil, acrylic, pastels, photography, handcrafted mixed mediums and more.
