Las Cruces artist/actor/author/performer Bob Diven has won a national second place award for “non-fiction book for adult readers, humor” from The National Federation of Press Women’s 2021 Professional Communications Contest for his book of editorial cartoons “Living in Las Cruces.” The award was announced at a June 11 ceremony, honoring the cartoons Diven has drawn for the Las Cruces Sun-News since 2006.

The book won a first-place award in the New Mexico Press Women’s statewide contest.

Diven will have a book signing event, 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, June 19, at COAS Books, 317 N. Main St. Downtown.

In August, Diven will move up the street to Las Cruces Community Theatre, 313 N. Main St., to star as Elwood P. Dowd in LCCT’s return-to-live-theatre production of “Harvey.”

He also plays Robert the Ratcatcher at the Doña Ana Arts Council’s annual Renaissance Artsfaire in November.
