Bulldawgs, Knights compete in Final Four

Two Las Cruces teams are in the state basketball Final Four, playing games today for a shot at the state high school finals.

In the 5A girls division, Las Cruces High School faces met #3 seed Volcano Vista today with a tipoff at 1:15 p.m. They earned their spot in the semifinals after defeating #2 seed Farmington 62-60 March 7 at the Pit in Albuquerque.

In the 5A boys division, Organ Mountain High School beat West Mesa 59-55 in a March 8 at the Pit to make the semifinals, where they also will play Volcano Vista, which is seeded #1 among the boys. That game is at 8:15 p.m., also in the Pit.

If LCHS wins today, they would face #1 seed Hobbs Saturday at 2 p.m. in the state championship game.

If OMHS wins today, they would face the winner of today’s Los Lunas-Sandia game Saturday at 8 p.m. for the state 5A title.
