Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park hosts luminarias

Posted

The Asombro Institute for Science Education will host its annual Luminarias: Light Up the Desert event at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8.

During the event, visitors are encouraged to take a stroll along a paved ADA-accessible trail lit with more than 400 luminarias as the sun sets in the surrounding desert.

The event will include several family-friendly activities, including marshmallow roasting, stargazing through a telescope, and holiday caroling. There will also be light refreshments, including holiday cookies and hot chocolate, available at no cost to visitors. Upon entry, a suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family is recommended, though the event is free. Visitors should note parking is limited. Asombro kindly asks attendees bring their patience and willingness to walk.

The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park is located at 56501 N. Jornada Road in Las Cruces. The Nature Park is owned and managed by the nonprofit Asombro Institute for Science Education. Asombro provides science education programs for more than 22,000 K-12 students yearly in classrooms and at the Nature Park.
