Christmas Tree permits now available on Lincoln National Forest

Looking to chop down your own Christmas tree this year?

Here’s how it starts.

Christmas tree permits for the Lincoln National Forest are available both online, and in National Forest offices.

Each year, the Lincoln National Forest sells Christmas tree permits, allowing participants to select and harvest their own tree. This is part of a national program hosted by U.S. National Forests.

Permits are available on a first come, first served basis. The permits cost $10, with a processing fee applied for any online transactions. There is a limit of one permit per household.

Permits will be available in-person at the Lincoln National Forest Supervisor’s Office, the Smokey Bear Ranger District Office, and Sacramento Ranger District Office, from through Dec. 22. Online sales will remain open through Dec. 31.

When purchasing a permit, is important to carefully read all information and review area maps in your packet and on the Recreation.gov website. Information on permitted harvest location, tree requirements, and special safety considerations are all available.
