The Las Cruces Fire Department (LCFD) Covid-19 homebound vaccination program ended March 1, LCFD said in a news release.

LCFD administered vaccinations to more than 1,300 homebound individuals in the city and county through the program, which began in December 2020, the news release said. Participants were enrolled through City of Las Cruces senior programs. For the vaccinations, LCFD worked with New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) Nurse Epidemiologist Bernadette Gutierrez, who led the program.

In addition to the homebound program, LCFD also participated in vaccination clinics at the Las Cruces Convention Center, working alongside NMDOH, New Mexico National Guard and Medical Reserve Corp. to administer 37,000 vaccinations.

The core members of the LCFD homebound vaccination team included firefighters Nathan Carr, Ariel Caro, Matthew Castrejon, Dominic Lopez, Michael Ruiz, Mychal Torres, Antonino Aguilar, Steven Jaquez and Vicente Zamora.
