KEEP LAS CRUCES BEAUTIFUL

City says ‘Mask up to clean up’ during clean up

Posted

“Mask Up to Clean Up”, the COVID-safe variation of the Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB) “Team Up to Clean Up” district events, will be held 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Dec. 19, in City Council District 2, represented by Councilor Tessa Abeyta-Stuve.

With COVID-19 safety guidelines still in place, community members can do clean-ups in neighborhoods or litter-prone areas of the city individually or with immediate family or in groups of five or fewer.

KLCB has arranged for two roll-off containers, provided by Las Cruces Utilities Solid Waste, to be available during the event through Sunday, Dec. 20, for use by community members to dispose of trash and large waste. The containers will be located at Frenger Park, 800 Parkview Drive, and at Gomez Park, 2283 S. Espina St.

KLCB staff will have a supply station at the Frenger Park location during the event with trash bags, gloves and trash pick-up tools. Participants should wear masks, practice social distancing and wash their hands regularly or use hand sanitizer.

“Team Up to Clean Up!” is a beautification program initiated in 2019 to help reverse the process of neighborhood deterioration and enhance the quality of life in the city.

“Mask Up to Clean Up!” is a call to enlist the community during the pandemic to voluntarily pitch in to do clean-ups safely where they live to create a cleaner, safer and healthier environment.

Upcoming cleanups by city council district (all events are 8 a.m.-noon on Saturdays, with roll-off containers available) are as follows:

District 1 (represented Mayor Pro Tempore Kasandra A. Gandara): to be scheduled;

District 3 (Gabriel Vasquez): Jan. 23, 2021;

District 4 (Johana Bencomo): Feb. 20;

District 5 (Gill Sorg): March 20;

District 6 (Yvonne Flores): April 17;
