City’s July 4 celebration includes Electric Light Parade, race, concert … and fireworks

The schedule is set for the annual City of Las Cruces 4th of July Celebration, the city said in a news release. All events are free and open to the public.

Monday, July 3

  • 7:30 p.m.: Electric 5K and one-mile fun run. The races start at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave. Visit Electric 5k at runsignup.com.
  • 9 p.m.: Electric Light Parade begins at Apodaca Park, 801 E. Madrid Ave., and travels south on Solano Drive and east on Hadley Avenue and ends at Maag Softball Complex, 1500 E. Hadley Ave. This year’s theme is “Red, White, and BOOM!” Call 575-541-2454 and email parade@lascruces.gov.

Tuesday, July 4

  • 6 p.m.: Chris Baker performs
  • 6:45 p.m.: Dzaki Sukarno performs
  • 8 p.m.: Randy Houser performs
  • 9:45 p.m.: Fireworks

All July 4 events are at Pat and Lou Sisbarro Community Park, 3205 Arrowhead Drive on the NMSU campus. Gates open at 4 p.m. There will be a bag check, the city said. Food vendors will be on site. No grilling, personal fireworks, RVs or overnight parking will be allowed. Alcohol will be available for purchase and consumption in designated areas; no outside alcohol is allowed. Food and drinks are allowed, but no glass containers are permitted. The city recommends bringing chairs, blankets, umbrellas, sunscreen and hats.
