City’s Pumpkin Palooza is Oct. 14

The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department will host its fifth annual Pumpkin Palooza fall event 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the park at Frank O'Brien Papen Community Center (FOBCC), 304 W. Bell Ave.

Pumpkin Palooza is free and offers an evening of arts and crafts, photo booths, music, food vendors and games, the city said in a news release. There will be a pie-eating contest for adults and children, a costume contest for children and pets and a hayride around the park.

Event schedule

  • Pet costume contest begins at 3:30 p.m.
  • Children's costume contest: Ages 1-4 begins at 4 p.m., ages 5-8: 4:30 p.m., ages 9 and up: 5 p.m.
  • Pie-eating contest: Adult contest begins at 5:30 p.m., ages 5-8: 5:45 p.m., ages 9 and up: 5:45 p.m.
