Doña Ana Community College (DACC)’s 2022-23 commencement will begin at 7p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Pan American Center, 1810 E. University Ave., DACC said in a news release.

During the ceremony, DACC will honor honorary degree recipient Catherine Kemmer, M.D. with an associate degree in public health. Kemmer has assisted DACC in various volunteer capacities, including the Run with Your Doc fundraiser benefitting St. Luke’s Health Care Clinic. The event also increased awareness of the programs DACC offers to the community.

Kemmer assisted the college by supervising as a medical director when DACC provided vaccine clinics during COVID-19, the news release said. Kemmer has also supported numerous students from DACC health programs through her business, Women’s Medical Associates.

A DACC honorary degree is given to someone who demonstrates outstanding service to the college and community, DACC said. It is the highest form of recognition offered by DACC to a person of exceptional distinction, the college said.
