All voting locations have been finalized for the 2023 regular local election that will take place Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Las Cruces, Mesilla, Sunland Park, Anthony and Hatch, Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda López Askin said in a news release. School board elections for Las Cruces Public Schools, Gadsden Independent School District and Hatch Valley Public Schools will be on the ballot, along with soil and water conversation district boards of supervisors in the county.
The Doña Ana County Commissioners voted to approve changing locations for the following voting convenience centers for the election, López Askin said: East Mesa Dona Ana Community College (previously located at Sonoma Elementary School), Chaparral Dona Ana Community College (previously located at the Delores Wright Community Center), Anthony Public Library (previously located at Anthony City Hall) and Mesquite Fire Department #10 (previously located at Mesquite Elementary School).
Commissioners voted to change those four locations due to wait times, parking challenges and constituent feedback, the county clerk said.
"Our goal is to increase voter turnout by making it more convenient for residents to show up to their local polling location," López Askin said. "These locations ensure that residents can vote quickly and more efficiently."
County commissioners designated the following voting locations for the 2023 election: Anthony Library, Berino Elementary School, Camino Real Middle School, Corbett Center, Doña Ana Community College in Chaparral, DACC East Mesa campus, Del Cerro Community Center, Desert Hills Elementary School, Desert View Elementary School, Doña Ana Community Center, Doña Ana County Government Center, East Picacho Elementary School, Fairacres Elementary School, Frank O'Brien Papen Center, Gadsden Middle School, Garfield Elementary School, Good Samaritan Social Center, Hatch Valley High School, Highland Elementary School, Jornada Elementary School, La Mesa Fire Department, La Union Elementary School, Las Alturas Fire Department, Las Cruces City Hall, Las Cruces High School, Loma Heights Elementary School, Lynn Middle School, Mayfield High School, Mesilla Elementary School, Mesquite Fire Department, New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, North Valley Elementary School, Organ Community Center, Organ Mountain High School, Rincon Fire Station, Santa Teresa Middle School, Sierra Middle School, Sunrise Elementary School, Tombaugh Elementary School, University Hills Elementary School and Vista Middle School.
