County NAACP celebrates Martin Luther King Jr.

The Doña Ana County NAACP will host a rally honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday, followed by its annual MLK breakfast Monday morning.

The rally will gather at Plaza de Las Cruces downtown at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14 and march to city hall.

Monday’s breakfast, sponsored by the county NAACP was well as the New Mexico Office of African American Affairs and the New Mexico Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission, will open at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, with a keynote address by New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez.

Proceeds from the $50 ticket price will benefit the NAACP local branch’s operating expenses and student scholarships, according to a news release. Ticket sales and more information are available via 575-635-7538 or info@naacpdac.org.
