THOMAS BRANIGAN MEMORIAL LIBRARY

Fall seeds available at Branigan Library; library closed Aug. 7-13

Posted

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., has fall seeds available for giveaway at the Tierra Sagrada pop-up seed library.

The fall collection features seeds ideal for the Fall growing season, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.

Seeds will be available while supplies last. Each library patron is allowed to check out 10 packets of seed per season on his or her library card. There is no return date, but patrons are encouraged to learn how to save seeds and eventually make a seed donation back to the seed library, the city said.

The seed library was created to encourage Las Crucens to learn more about local food systems and regionally adapted community seed saving projects.

Visit https://library.las-cruces.org and click on the “Tierra Sagrada Seed Library” link for more information and a listing of available fall seeds.

Community members who are interested in donating seed are asked to fill out a donation form to provide information on seed provenance and cultural history.

Library closed

The library will be closed Sunday, Aug. 7- Saturday, Aug. 13, for staff training and cleaning of the facility, the city said.

Digital materials, including eBooks, will be available for check-out during that time, the city said.

To access digital materials, visit https://library.las-cruces.org and click on “Digital Library.”

Patrons may return books in the library’s book drop during the time the library is closed.
