Firefighters stifle blaze on Mesquite Street


On Friday evening, city firefighters extinguished a fire in the back of an abandoned home on N. Mesquite Street, per a news release from the fire department.

The LCFD responded shortly before 8 p.m. on the 1700 block of N. Mesquite, where they found an active fire in the empty structure.

LCFD said firefighters quickly confined the fire and extinguished it “within minutes of arrival.” The building was unoccupied and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Monday morning.
