Frederick Frank Lenway (74) died on March 24, 2024, in Las Cruces, NM.  Fred was born on June 12, 1949, in Syracuse, NY to Frederick Junior Lenway and Betty De Garmo.  He spent his early childhood in New York and later moved to La Puente, CA where he graduated high school.  He subsequently attended Los Angeles Valley College majoring in political science.  Fred loved music, was in the school band, played guitar, drew, and wrote poetry throughout his life.

In 1970 he was working at Peterson’s Baby Products in Northridge, CA,  where he met his wife, Sharon Rust.  They were married in June of 1973.  Fred and Sharon started American Block and Concrete where he became an accomplished mason.  Fred was incredibly creative and artistic, and he loved to demonstrate his craft, building beautiful hard scrapes, fireplaces, outside kitchens and barbecues, and intricate tile work.

Fred and Sharon moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 2005 where Fred continued his business with his son Frederick Gregory Lenway (Buddy).  Fred continued to work until 2021 when he finally retired.

Fred was a deeply religious man who loved life but also longed to cross over to be with his mother and sisters Joanne (JoJo) Palmisano, Victoria Wix, and Lonnie Kunert, who predeceased him.  Fred is survived by his wife of 51 years Sharon Lenway, children Andrea Joseph, Jason Lenway, Amoreena Provencio, Jennifer Snider, and Frederick Lenway (Buddy), their spouses and significant others.  His 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way) kept him going and were his everything.  He is also survived by his brothers, Greg Lenway and Amos Depuy, sister Juleen Lade, and multiple cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Fred was the rock and foundation of his family.  He will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum located at 4100 Dripping Springs Road, Las Cruces, NM, on Sunday, April 21st at 1:00 pm.
