Las Cruces Public Schools has established Wi-Fi connections accessible from the parking lots at all schools. School buildings remain closed under the current public health order, and because those orders also prohibit congregating on school property, LCPS is providing the free service for short-term use.
“We wanted to provide a way for students who need internet service to download or upload assignments, or to check email,” said Josh Silver, Chief Technology Officer at LCPS.
The student-safe internet is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week. For access, go to LCPS-PUBLICWIFI in the list of available internet connections on your device.
According to Silver, LCPS students in rural parts of the district will have an additional choice to access wireless internet, thanks to Doña Ana County. Starting Friday, Dec. 11, Internet access will be available at seven county Community Resource Centers. The locations were chosen based on feedback from LCPS and other families in the county that indicated they still needed access to wireless Internet:
Placitas Community Center - 241 Monticello St., Hatch
Rincon Community Center - 220 Baker Dr., Rincon
Doña Ana Community Resource Center - 5745 Ledesma Dr., Doña Ana

La Mesa Community Resource Center - 744 San Jose, La Mesa
