Graduate Award recipients embody diligence, focus, brilliance

The Alumni Association of New Mexico State University has announced the seven recipients of its biannual Outstanding Graduate Award, representing each college of the university, plus the Graduate School. 

These Outstanding Graduate Award winners exemplify the best and brightest of the class of 2023 spring semester:

  • Paloma Y. Hernandez Perez, College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, Bachelor of Science in hotel, restaurant and tourism management
  • Kayla Moehn, College of Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Science in genetics (genetics and biotechnology) and Bachelor of Arts in philosophy
  • Sylvia Ximena Porras, College of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration (economics)
  • Logan Antiporda, College of Engineering, Bachelor of Science in engineering physics
  • Alexandra Ortiz, College of Health, Education and Social Transformation, Bachelor of Science in education (communication disorders) and Bachelor of Arts in linguistics
  • Abdiel O. Lugo Montes, College of Engineering, Master of Science in environmental engineering
  • Jimoh Fatoki, College of Business, Doctor of Philosophy in business administration

Deans and nomination committees select honorees based on their outstanding academic accomplishments, notable leadership abilities and extracurricular commitments. Each student will be acknowledged during NMSU’s spring 2023 commencement ceremonies.
 
“At NMSU, we are fortunate to educate some of the most inspirational and exceptional students in the nation,” said David Strong, interim president of the NMSU Foundation. “It is truly humbling to honor these outstanding graduates from each of our academic colleges, as well as two of our graduate students. I am excited to see what these amazing Aggies will accomplish in their communities and around the world.”

The NMSU Alumni Association’s Outstanding Graduate Award is a respected and longstanding tradition at the university and a notable distinction for its recipients. This semester’s winners will be recognized at the Outstanding Graduates Luncheon Friday, May 12, on the NMSU Foundation website, and on the @NMSUAlumFriends social media pages.
