New Mexico's acoustic music powerhouse The Hard Road Trio has put together a special show to benefit KRWG Public Media. The concert featuring the trio and their musical friends will be 7 p.m., Friday, April 22, at the Rio Grande Theatre, 211 N. Main St.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with Hard Road Trio to provide the community an opportunity to enjoy great live music while supporting KRWG Public Media,” says station general manager, Adrian Velarde. The concert includes the release of the trio’s latest CD.

Tickets are available online at KRWG.org and the Rio Grande Theatre box office, tickets are $20.

“For me, when musicians partner with public broadcasting, we expand the way we serve our communities,” says Hard Road Trio vocalist, Steve Smith, “KRWG Public Media and The Hard Road Trio have a long-standing relationship; our partnership is a public one that represents how KRWG relates to not only members, but to all of Southern New Mexico and West Texas. It's important that we are there for each other!”

The Hard Road Trio features Steve Smith (vocals, mandolin, octave mandolin and guitar), Chris Sanders (vocals and guitar) and Anne Luna (vocals and bass).

The Hard Road Trio has captured audiences across the country with the depth of their songwriting and the power of their distinctive voices. Their music grows from Steve's love of bluegrass rooted in his native Virginia, the beauty of choral singing ever-present in Chris' Minnesota childhood, and the tradition of music in Anne's New Mexico family. Together, their Southwestern blend of Roots and Bluegrass music provides a unique heartbeat and lilt underscored by Anne's driving and elegant bass.

The Hard Road Trio concert will benefit KRWG Public Media, a public broadcasting service of New Mexico State University, serving southern New Mexico and far west Texas.
