Hitting the road with high school football


Mayfield High School hits the road this week to face Belen 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22. The 2-2 Trojans fell 44-7 last week in the rivalry game against Las Cruces High School.

The victory was the Bulldawgs’ first of the season, and they’ll be looking for a second-straight win Friday, Sept. 22, as they open District 6A-3/4 on the road at Hobbs.

Centennial High School (2-2) and Organ Mountain High School (0-5) open district play facing each other in a 7 p.m. game Friday, Sept. 22, here in Las Cruces at the Field of Dreams.

Centennial had a bye week Sept. 15, and Organ Mountain lost 40-7 at Gadsden.

In another local matchup this weekend, Mesilla Valley Christian School (3-1) hosts Legacy Academy from Albuquerque at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23. The SonBlazers defeated Logan 44-28 last week.
