The feature film “In the Summers” is currently filming in Las Cruces,” the New Mexico Film Office (NMFO) said in a June 16 news release.

Set in Las Cruces, the story follows two girls who visit their divorced father over the course of 20 years. The movie is produced by Alex Dinelaris (“Birdman”) and directed by Alessandra Lacorazza (“Mami’).

"We are excited to welcome ‘In the Summers’ to Las Cruces,” Film Las Cruces President Jeff Steinborn, who is a New Mexico state senator representing Doña Ana County. “It's a wonderful project that fully utilizes our local crew and actors, and showcases our unique, authentic locations."

The production is employing more than 100 New Mexicans, the news release said, including approximately 50 background talent, 40 resident crew members and 21 actors.
