Las Cruces Chile Drop Takes Center Stage on New Year's Eve

Posted

As the countdown to the New Year begins, the City of Las Cruces and the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership present the  annual New Year’s Eve Chile Drop.

Chile Drop is a free family event that has become a hallmark of our community's New Year's Eve celebrations. The festivities begin at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, at Plaza de Las Cruces, 101 N. Main St., and last until the chile drops at midnight.

This year's Chile Drop promises an unforgettable experience, featuring a lively midway, the soulful sounds of the Memphis Band, the presence of local TV and radio personalities, and a DJ to keep the festivities alive.

Chile Drop was recently voted number three on the list of USA Today's Best New Year’s Eve Drops, a testament to its growing reputation as a must-attend celebration. What will set this year apart is the exciting news that CNN will be on-site, broadcasting live cut-ins during their New Year's Eve coverage.

This means that viewers across the U.S. will have the opportunity to join in the celebration and witness Las Cruces’ unique charm.

For Downtown Las Cruces, the Chile Drop is not just a celebration; it's a reflection of the vibrant spirit that defines Las Cruces. We invite everyone to join us as we bid farewell to the old and welcome the new in grand style.

“Please continue to frequently shop, dine, experience, and visit our Downtown and Mesquite districts,” said John Muñoz, President of the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership.  “And most especially, join us on this very unique New Year’s Eve celebration where we get to showcase our community to the nation.”
