CITY OF LAS CRUCES

Las Cruces Glows Together Despite COVID-19

Posted

The COVID-19 pandemic will prevent us from gathering for the annual Las Cruces Tree Lighting Ceremony this year. But it will not darken the tradition of City residents celebrating the holiday season by illuminating Las Cruces with thousands and thousands of Christmas lights.

The City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department has developed a project that will be staged in lieu of the City’s Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Economic Development Department has contracted with NMCO Media to conduct an engagement campaign where everyone and anyone in the community can share their holiday lights in photos or a short video. Entries will be compiled into a video that will be presented Dec. 5 on CLC-TV, Comcast Cable channel 20 and the City’s Facebook page.

All Las Crucens are invited and encouraged to show off their holiday spirit by submitting photos of Christmas trees and lights, luminarias, menorahs, or kinaras from around their home, apartment, or property. Post the photos, or short videos, on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #GlowTogetherLC. Posts received by Nov. 30 may have a cameo in the compilation video premiering the evening of Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020.

For information, call Liz Vega at 575/541-2361 or send an email to: Elizabeth.vega@las-cruces.org.

Let’s share some Holiday Cheer with all of our families, friends, and neighbors. From all of us, to all of you, Best Wishes!
