The Las Cruces International Film Festival kicked off with a poster reveal party Friday, Jan. 31, as poster artist Luis Navarro unveiled the artwork and Festival Director Ross Marks emceed the event. During the event, Marks said every year the committee finds a local artist to create a unique poster. Navarro said he put a lot of thought into the art as inspired by a conversation with Marks. The image uses the lightbulb for the basic structure, Navarro said, “it’s the iconic symbol for idea. [The poster] incorporates a lot of the natural elements in New Mexico and also the thought that an idea will take you to the sky, if you go with it.” The festival takes place March 4-8. Tickets and schedule can be found at lascrucesfilmfest.com.
