LCPS board: Plan for more face-to-face instruction

Posted

During a Feb. 2 meeting of the Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education, a presentation was made that outlined a plan to open classrooms to hybrid learning beginning Feb. 22.

In a four-one vote, the board asked for a more detailed plan for consideration at the board’s Tuesday, Feb. 16 meeting.

After Superintendent Dr. Karen Trujillo presented a plan to return students to classrooms in a phased-in approach, the board said it was not ready to commit to aggressive hybrid instruction. Instead, it authorized Trujillo to develop a plan for increased face-to-face opportunities that prioritize students in need of support. The Feb. 16 meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at www.lcps.tv.

Whether the upcoming plan will be sufficient to meet state requirements for participation in New Mexico Activities Association events is yet to be determined.
