Lifelong Doña Ana resident and county employee Daniel R. Sambrano announces candidacy for Doña Ana County assessor, which is on the general election ballot in 2022.

Sambrano, a candidate in the June 2022 Democratic primary, said he has worked in the county assessor’s office since 2003, “starting off as support staff and slowly rising through the ranks to my current position as senior appraiser.”

During that time, he also worked for three years in the state Property Tax Division, Sambrano said, which “has executive authority over all assessors statewide.”

“This experience over 18 years has given me a well-rounded perspective of the individual needs of every community from Garfield to Anapra, as well as an understanding of the statutes, rules, and regulations of taxation and assessment,” he said.

Sambrano said he attained the level of state-certified appraiser in 2011 “after years of education provided by the International Association of Assessing Officers.”

Sambrano is a member and two-time president of Las Cruces Elks Lodge No. 1119 and currently holds state and national positions as an Elks member. He is a member of Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church and a former officer for their Knights of Columbus Council No. 16800.

Through volunteer service with a local groups and organizations, Sambrano said he has “been able to foster relationships with and get a feel for the needs of the citizens” in the county.

Professionally, Sambrano said he has worked in valuing manufactured housing, residential and commercial property.

“I have learned to treat everyone fairly and with respect,” Sambrano said.
