National Hispanic Cultural Center interim director visits Doña Ana

Posted

National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) Interim Executive Director Zack Quintero was at De La O Center in  the Village of Doña Ana Saturday, April 1, to meet with members of the Doña Ana Historic Preservation Committee (DACHPC) and discuss the center becoming listed as a historic site and as an NHCC “cultural ambassador.”

The cultural ambassador program is a new NHCC initiative to identify historic areas outside Albuquerque and Santa Fe and establish formal partnerships so the center “can share works of art from national and community artists and education programming and host national conversations at historic locations,” according to the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, of which NHCC is a part.

“The goal of the program is fostering a strong connection with artists and organizations across New Mexico by identifying, supporting and empowering rural populations, artists and youth,” NHCC said.

DACHPC is a nonprofit “that works to preserve the cultural heritage of the Village of Doña Ana.”

NHCC is located at 1701 4th St. SW in Albuquerque. Call 505-246-2261.
