Nature park extends summer hours

The Asombro Institute for Science Education (AISE) has extended summer hours for its Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park.

With more than three miles of hiking trails, including one ADA-accessible trail, visitors can enjoy the park and its free admission 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday during the summer, AISE said in a news release. “Trails allow hikers to travel through arroyos, onto hilltops and into desert shrublands, viewing plants, birds, lizards, insects and signs of nocturnal animal life,” the news release said.

The nature park features several covered shade pavilions and picnic tables, AISE said. Visitors should note that there is no water available at the park and should plan accordingly.

AISE provides science education programs for more than 22,000 K-12 students yearly in classrooms and at the nature park, the nonprofit said.
