New school superintendent to host public meetings in August, September

Posted

Parents, students and educators are invited to attend a series of meet-and-greet events to hear from Las Cruces Public Schools (LCPS) Superintendent Ignacio Ruíz, LCPS said in a news release,

“It’s been an exciting and productive first couple of weeks on the job,” Ruíz said. “We have some things to celebrate about our district, and some plans to build on the work that’s been done. I look forward to sharing those plans with our community, and I look forward to hearing firsthand what’s important to them as we move forward.”

The events will start with providing the public an opportunity to write concerns, questions or accolades on an interactive feedback wall, the news release said. Ruíz will deliver a short recap of his time spent learning and listening throughout LCPS and will discuss strategic planning and his 90 Day Plan for the district. Most of the meet-and-greet sessions will be spent hearing from student groups, parents and community members, LCPS said

“It’s important that we hear from our students, their families and the communities we serve,” Ruíz said. “We are partners in education and the work can’t happen without honest input.”

Schedule of Ruiz public meetings (all meetings are 5-7 p.m.)

  • Thursday, Aug. 24, Organ Mountain High School commons, 5700 Mesa Grande Drive;
  • Thursday, Aug. 31, Las Cruces High School performing arts lab, 1750 El Paseo Road;
