The New Mexico State University College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is seeking nominations for four awards that recognize “individuals who have achieved state, national or international distinction by their accomplishments and leadership, all while supporting their community and CAS,” NMSU said.

The awards are the Town and Gown award, the Star of the Arts and Humanities award, the Star of Sciences award and the Star of the College of Arts and Sciences award.

To be eligible for an award, the candidate must have “performed specific, meritorious service which reflects the quality and advancement of NMSU; achieved distinction in his/her business or professional life; is an individual who, in deeds and action, reflects and recognizes the importance of education; and, is a person of such integrity, stature and demonstrated ability, that the faculty, staff, students and alumni will take pride in and be inspired by his or her recognition.
Nominations must be submitted to the CAS dean’s office by Nov. 30.

CAS Dean Enrico Pontelli and members of the Dean’s Council will review nominations and make the final selections. The Starry Night event, during which the awards will be presented, will be held in March 2023, marking the 10th anniversary of the awards.
