‘Nutcracker’ features professional dancers from all over country

Professional dancers from Dark Circles Contemporary Dance from all over the country have been arriving at Michele’s Dance Academy in Las Cruces to participate in one of the state’s longest running productions of “The Nutcracker Ballet.” They have been busy rehearsing the newly created choreography of Joshua L. Peugh for the Las Cruces Chamber Ballet’s 38th annual “Nutcracker Ballet.”  Performances are at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at the New Mexico State University Atkinson Recital Hall, 1075 N. ‘Christmas Carol’ ends run

“A Christmas Carol” closes at Las Cruces Community Theatre. Las Cruces Community Theatre’s production of “A Christmas Carol,” starring Norman Lewis in a one-man show, has its final three performances this weekend, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 17-18, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19. (Dec. 19 is the 178th anniversary of the day “A Christmas Carol in Prose:  A Ghost Story of Christmas,” by Charles Dickens, was published.) Tickets are $17 for adults; $14 for seniors, students and military; $10 for children ages 12 and under; and $5 for student rush tickets. LCCT is located at 313 N. Main St. Call 575-523-1200.

Secret Improv with not-so-secret show

It’s a secret – but pass it on! The Super Secret Improv Show will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at Black Box Theatre, 430 N. Main St. Downtown. Tickets are $10 and only cash will be accepted as payment. Masks and vaccinations are required for all patrons. “The Super Secret Improv Show performs classic short-form improv games such as Actor’s Nightmare, and Interrogation as well as a long-form improv game in the form of a La Ronde or an Armando,” according to the group’s Facebook page.
