The Doña Ana Arts Council (DAAC) and PFLAG Las Cruces hosted a reception for New Mexico State Sen. Carrie Hamblen of Las Cruces Friday evening, June 9, at DAAC in honor of Pride Month (June). Left to right are, standing, DAAC Gallery Manager Penny Peace, Hamblen and Ryan Steinmetz; and, seated, Marilyn Allison, artist Sonya Fe, whose artwork is visible on the gallery walls. At the reception, arts advocate Irene Oliver-Lewis thanked Hamblen for her support of House Bill 8, which created a Creative Industries Division within the New Mexico Economic Development Department, and “for everything you’ve done throughout the years.”
