Red Sky Farm hosts Oct. 29 Halloween costume party, Nov. 12 Fall Pony Party

Posted

Red Sky Farm, 7440 Arroyo Seco in Las Cruces, will host a Halloween Costume Party and "Show What You Know" evening under the lights in the jumping arena, 6-9 pm Saturday, Oct. 29, Red Sky Farm owner Susie Ouderkirk said.

“We'll have a big costume contest, with riders AND horses in costume, followed by an opportunity for all of the riders to ‘show what they know,’" Ouderkirk said. “Each rider will have 90 seconds to show off the thing they do best,” she said. “Maybe it's mounting and dismounting, cantering over a jump with no hands, posting without stirrups, braiding a tail, teaching a skill or riding backwards.”

Prizes will be awarded and there will also be Halloween candy, Ouderkirk said.

Pony Party

Then, from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, Red Sky Farm will host a Fall Pony Party.

The event is geared toward boys and girls ages 7-13, Ouderkirk said.

It will include grooming, riding, games, prizes and a special Veteran’s Day story, plus two hours of horse activities in the Red Sky barn.

The cost is $20 for current Red Sky Farm students and $30 for everyone else.

Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required for all participants. Helmets and equipment will be provided.
