Registration for NMSU Gratitude Walk/Run now open

Posted

For the second consecutive year, New Mexico State University’s Marketing and Communications department will host the Gratitude Walk/Run Saturday, Oct. 14. Registration is now open.

This year’s family-friendly event will include a one-mile fun run and timed 5K race across NMSU’s Las Cruces campus, beginning at Aggie Memorial Stadium. Both race routes will pass notable campus landmarks, including Presley Askew Field, Chamisa Village, Corbett Center Student Union, the Horseshoe and Zuhl Library.

Participants are encouraged to register online prior to the event. However, onsite registration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by 9 and 9:15 a.m. start times for the one-mile fun run and 5K race, respectively.

Participants can expect informational booths, free NMSU merchandise, photo opportunities with Pistol Pete and medals commemorating their participation. First-, second- and third-place winners for the 5K race will be recognized following the event.

“Whether you’re a seasoned runner, walker or just looking for a fun weekend activity, the NMSU Gratitude Walk/Run is a great way to spend time with friends and family while also enjoying our beautiful campus,” NMSU Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications Justin Bannister said. “Our goal is to bring together the NMSU and Las Cruces communities to celebrate everything there is to be grateful for in 2023.”

Registration is $10 for the one-mile fun run and $20 for the 5K race. Both events are free for individuals 14 years old and younger. 5K teams with four or more participants will receive a $5-per-team-member discount.
