Saturday fire at transfer station extinguished

Posted

The Las Cruces Fire Department reported that a Saturday night fire at the Solid Waste Transfer Station was extinguished within 14 minutes.

Firefighters responded at approximately 9:20 p.m. on April 27 to the transfer station, located at 2865 W. Amador Avenue. They found a large fire inside the station, which appeared to be unoccupied, and upgraded the alarm since a structure was now endangered. The LCFD said 15 firefighters responded and confronted the fire through three attack lines.

The cause of the fire had not been determined as Monday morning and no estimate of the damage was available.

The transfer station’s operations continue under its normal schedule, having reopened on Sunday.
