The Las Cruces Police Department, as of 10 a.m., Oct. 31, had not made any arrests in a shooting incident that left seven people injured late Saturday, Oct. 28.
A report of shots fired came to the LCPD from the intersection of Dyer Street and Missouri Avenue, about a block away from Hillrise Elementary School.
The City of Las Cruces said a drive-by shooting was directed at a house party, and as a result, seven victims, one who was 17 and six others who were 18 or older, were injured. Two victims are in critical, but stable, condition.
The seven victims were initially taken to Las Cruces hospitals, but one was later transferred to an El Paso hospital.
There were no deaths in this shooting.
No arrests have yet been made, and the shooting is still being investigated. Any additional information to be shared with LCPD can be made by calling 575-526-0795.
In an unrelated event Sunday, Oct. 29, so far unconfirmed by Las Cruces Police, a Las Cruces man was reportedly shot near the intersection of Claude Dove Drive and Telshor Boulevard.
The victim’s truck had allegedly been stolen from his driveway, and he pursued in his other vehicle. The two reportedly met near the intersection, and shots were fired by the alleged car thief. One non-life-threatening injury was reportedly sustained, and the alleged car thief was subdued and later arrested.
