A mayoral ball organized by The Association on Jan. 20 brought together members of the business community and civic leadership for a black tie event welcoming new mayors Eric Enriquez (Las Cruces) and Russell Hernandez (Mesilla) and raising money for local charities they selected. There were various interpretations of formal dress in evidence, but generally the footwear was immaculate, sometimes ornate and nearly always polished to a shine. Here, Mayor Hernandez’s black shoes gleam despite the soft ballroom lights.
