Solano shooting puts one in hospital

UPDATE, Wednesday, Aug. 9 -  Las Cruces police are continuing to investigate Tuesday morning’s shooting that injured a man on south Solano Drive.

 About 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, Las Cruces police were dispatched to the report of shots fired on the 1500 block of south Solano Drive. Officers arrived to find a 55-year-old man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
 
He was transported in critical condition to University Medical Center of El Paso.
 
Preliminary information from the investigation indicates that two men became involved in a physical altercation in a parking lot. Both men appeared to be armed with firearms. At some point, at least one round was fired resulting in injury to the 55-year-old man.
 
The second man believed to be involved in this incident was taken into custody for investigative purposes. He has been cooperative with police.
