Summertime on the farm

The second-annual Summertime on the Farm event is 4-9 p.m. Friday, July 28, at New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road.

Event activities are 4-7 p.m. with a bicycle parade that children 12 and under can participate in (costumes and decorations are encouraged; prizes will be awarded) at 5 p.m., pony rides 5:30-7 p.m. and a concert featuring Rockin’ Blue Geckos 7-9 p.m. in the heritage garden, the museum said in a news release.

Admission to the event is $20 per carload. Pony rides are $5.

Visitors can learn how to make ice cream using a Ziploc bag and then eat the treat they make; take a trolley ride to the museum’s livestock corrals and barns; enjoy games, activities and a scavenger hunt; shop at the museum’s plant sale; and check out demonstrations that will include milking by Southwest Dairy Farmers.

This event is being held in conjunction with 4-H Achievement Week and projects created by their members will be on display.

Food trucks will be on hand, including Mad Street BBQ and Rez Tacos. Cotton candy and other treats will also be available.

Rockin’ Blue Geckos is a five-piece band plays country rock and blues. Listeners should bring blankets or folding chairs.
