Supreme Court’s Affirmative Action ruling won’t change NMSU policy

Posted

Here is the text of a memorandum New Mexico State University interim Chancellor Jay Gogue sent June 30 to the “NMSU community”:

On Thursday, June 29, 2023, the Supreme Court ended race considerations in college admissions processes. New Mexico State University (NMSU) is a proud Land-Grant, Hispanic-Serving, Minority Serving, and Space Grant Institution that is deeply committed to serving the diverse population of our state. NMSU’s open admissions practices, including those of our Global and Community College campuses, have functioned to support the social mobility of all students attending NMSU. The state of New Mexico is a leader by providing the Opportunity and Lottery Scholarships for students to achieve their higher educational goals.

NMSU remains steadfast in our equity, inclusion, and diversity efforts to ensure that all students are welcome and thrive at our university.
