Following the presentation of colors by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard, newly elected and re-elected local government officials were sworn into office during a ceremony held Monday morning, Dec. 30, at the county government center.
Taking oaths of office were officials from the City of Las Cruces and Village of Hatch, the Las Cruces Public Schools and Gadsden Independent School District boards of education and the Lower Rio Grande Public Water Works Authority.
The swearings-in of city officials were conducted by the county for the first time ever because of the implementation of combined local elections that are collectively administered by the County Clerk’s Office.
