LAS CRUCES POLICE DEPARTMENT

UTVs stolen from Valley Drive Kubota dealership

Posted

Police are looking for the suspect or suspects who stole three new utility terrain vehicles from a Las Cruces dealership earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, Las Cruces police learned that three UTVs were stolen from the Kubota dealership at 1675 S. Valley Dr. It’s believed the suspect or suspects broke into the back gate at the dealership and drove the three UTVs away, likely stashing the vehicles temporarily in a nearby neighborhood and then returning to transport them.

It’s believed the thefts took place between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.

One of the stolen UTVs likely had fuel problems and became inoperable. A Las Cruces police officer spotted a man trying to hook up a tow strap to the UTV near Aspen Avenue and Tamarack Drive at about 9:40 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14.

The suspect, in a black or dark blue Chevy pickup, fled the area at a high rate of speed before the officer could make contact. The suspect vehicle was last seen heading north on Tamarack Drive. The UTV with fuel problems was recovered and returned to the dealership.

The two UTVs that are unaccounted for are both 2020 Kubota UTVs. One is orange and one is camouflage. Both have Herc Rentals stickers prominently attached.

The known suspect vehicle is a black or dark blue 4-door Chevy pickup.

Anyone with information that can help identify the suspects, locate the stolen UTVs or knows the whereabouts of the Chevy pickup is asked to call police immediately at 575-526-0795.
