Van Wagner, Zawacki featured at MVFG

Mesilla Valley Fine Arts Gallery (MVFG), 2470-A Calle de Guadalupe, across from the Fountain Theatre in Mesilla, will feature two local artists for the month of November: Kurt Van Wagner and Mary Zawacki.

Van Wagner, a photographer, is a native of California and has been a MVFG member for 14 years. His photos capture the local scenes of New Mexico as well as tasteful figurative nudes and his world travels, MVFG said in a news release.

Zawacki paints primarily with oils and pastels. She had a career as an advertising art director and graphic designer, working for more than 20 years in Los Angeles for advertising agencies specializing in the movie industry. Zawacki holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Michigan.

Holiday Market is Nov. 4

MVFG’s Holiday Market open house will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. It will include a wide selection of artwork and gift ideas and visitors can meet gallery artists and watch these artists demonstrating their techniques: Patricia Black (gourd art), Mark Morden (pastels), Kerry O’Neill (ceramics), Noel Sandino (mono printing). Light refreshments will be served.

MVFG’s 30 featured artists offer original art in various media, including oil, acrylics, pastels, watercolor, fused glass art jewelry, woodturnings, stained glass, photography, ceramics, mixed media, decorated gourds, textile weavings, art tile, fiber art, natural gemstone jewelry, fused glass, colored pencil, charcoal, pen and ink drawings, prints, cards and miniature paintings.

First American Bank, 1553 Avenida de Mesilla, features the work of many of the gallery’s artists.
