Water outage near Desert Hills Elementary School, Sept. 26

Posted

Residences and businesses near Desert Hills Elementary School, 280 N. Roadrunner Parkway, will experience a water outage 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Adjacent areas also may be affected by the outage. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, City crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

The water outage will enable Caliper Construction to complete water line tie-ins as part of a commercial building permit.

Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, City of Las Cruces officials recommend waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry. The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in their house for five minutes.

If the discoloration remains, call the city at 575-526-0500 for assistance.
