World-class music, comedian, DJ highlight Amador Dayz 2022

Amador Live, 302 S. Main St., has an amazing lineup of local, regional and national performers coming on stage for its second annual Amador Dayz, May 4-7.

Here are some of the acclaimed artists visiting Las Cruces for the event:

  • Los Huracanes del Norte is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The band, originally from Yahualica de González Gallo, Jalisco, Mexico, plays different styles of Norteño music and are currently based in Portales, New Mexico. Scoring their first gold record in 1978, the band has topped the charts with hits for the last 20-plus years.
  • Ricardo Castillón y La Diferenzia. San Antonio, Texas-based Tejano group La Diferenzia includes vocalist Ricardo Castillón, accordionist Simon Arausa, guitarist Adam Vargas, keyboardists Arnold Cardenas and Ross Villapando, bassist Mike Macias and drummer Jose Luis Benavides. The band has had chart-topping singles and albums. Castillón followed in his father’s footsteps and joining La Conexion Tejana at age 12.
  • Alex Reymundo is a comic, actor and producer whose standup career began in Arlington, Texas in 1988. He moved to Los Angeles and began touring with comic Paul Rodriguez and co-starred in the movie “The Original Latin Kings of Comedy” with Rodriguez, Cheech Marin and George Lopez. He has also been featured on HBO, CMT, Showtime and Comedy Central. A native of Acapulco, Mexico, Reymundo now lives in Kentucky. He co-founded and operates Number JUAN Tequila, a small-batch, hand-crafted, award-winning tequila.
  • DJ Henry Fong is a native of Jupiter, Florida. His “diverse blend of electronic, Caribbean and Latin sounds” has created a “world-class dance music act” that has taken him around the globe. (Visit https://djhenryfong.com/.)
  • AB Quintanilla III y Los Kumbia Kings was formed in Corpus Christi, Texas more than 20 years ago. Quintanilla is the older brother of Tejano music legend Selena, was her producer and wrote some of her hit songs. He has won multiple Latin Grammy awards, along with major Latin music awards.
  • Grupo Metal featuring Chris Pérez is from Texas. Pérez is best known as lead guitarist for the Tejano band Selena y Los Dinos. He was Selena’s husband.

Here is the lineup:

  • Wednesday, May 4: Mega trivia, interactive quiz show, begins at 7 p.m.; first come, first served on the outdoor lawn; free to play, with a recommendation of at least five people per team.
  • Thursday, May 5: Headliner: AB Quintanilla III y Los Kumbia Kings; featuring: Deming, New Mexico native and former Las Cruces police officer Frank Ray; also playing: Satisfied, with Las Cruces native Karlos Saucedo and El Paso’s Radio La Chusma. The host is Alex Reymundo. Performing at the FatCrates beer garden: Jordano Baby, Grupo A1, EMEKU and DJ NEOKIDD.
  • Friday, May 6: Headliner: San Antonio’s Grupo Metal featuring Chris Perez; featuring: DJ Henry Fong and Las Cruces native and Texas country music star Bri Bagwell; special guest: Ricardo Castillon y La Diferenzia; also playing: regional favorite Unlyshed. The host again is Alex Reymundo. Performing at the FatCrates beer garden: DJ Mischievous; DJ NEOKIDD; and Legit Alpha.
  • Saturday, May 7: Headliner: Los Huracanes del Norte; featuring: Revancha Nortena; special guest: regional favorite Che Che Rodriguez; also performing: El Paso’s Frequenzia and La Culpa Nortena. Performing in the FatCrates Beer Garden: Grupo A1, Jornado Baby; Cen and DJ NEOKIDD.

For the Thursday-Saturday, May 5, 6 and 7 live performances, doors open at 4 p.m. General admission for each day is $50 if you buy tickets online or $60 at the door.
